Good Day!

Almost nothing beats a day at the quilt show with your BFF.  What a day.  We left at 8:45AM and arrived at our destination around 10:15am.  We began our journey of viewing the beautiful quilts from all over the world.  There where so many beauties, it was hard to decide which  one we liked the best.  It is very interesting to see the differences in composition and technique from country to country.  And of course there was shopping....oh shopping!!  There were new rulers, patterns, tools and of course fabric.  If you quilt and sew you know you can never have enough fabric.  So of course, we had to have a few new rulers, about 6 patterns and a truck load of fabric.  That's a picture of our combined stash...most is mine and my BFF doesn't even sew, so you know I'll be busy.  I'm hoping my pictures of the quilts will upload soon so I can share them with you.  We arrived home after a long but wonderful day around 6PM.  Needless to say, I have to rest up so I can sew up all that fabric into the patterns we bought.

Sunshine...maybe??

Today it was suppose to rain all day and when I woke the sun was shining...can the weather people ever get it right?  I planned on spending most of the rainy day sewing, but I guess I'll run some errands while the weather is good and sew later.  Sewed a couple more dresses and a cute apron for my donation to the "cupcake" themed basket.  The church where we quilt has a Holly Bazaar and every year we made something to donate to their fun raiser.  Last year it was a "kitchen" themed basket and went over quite well.  Hoping to get a few more dresses done and then with the quilted items I have, I should be able to get started in my shop on Etsy.com.

I think today's baking will be Blueberry Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and then I'll have to get Henry to give me more blueberries.  Looks good and the recipe sounds good.  So I guess I better get going so I can fit everything into the day.

Blueberry Season

Well as I write this, I have blueberry bars in the oven and they smell sooooo good.  I used lemon instead of the almond flavor.  My BFF's husband has already picked over 40 quarts of blueberries.  I am so grateful he likes to share.  Weather has been very warm, but I still have got some sewing done.  Been sewing little girls dresses and just got my order in the mail from Karen at Sew Karen-ly Created.  Guess I'll be taking a trip to the fabric store so I can get started on the new projects...what a shame!

Here are a few pictures of the dresses I've made so far.

I am planning on opening a shop on etsy.com, but I haven't gotten that finished yet.  I've also been working on my digital scrapbooking.  Bingo chat tomorrow night at gottapixel.net I guess it's been so long since I've had so much time to do the things I love, I'm trying to fit it all in at the same time.  I'll get organized yet.  It's best to stay busy and have less time for thinking .
Gotta run....blueberry bars are ready.

Settling in

As you know, most of my spare time was spent taking care of Mom. As you know from my last entry, she passed on July 7. After the initial grieving and taking care of her affairs, it is time to settle into my life without her. I hope to have more time to keep up the blog and work on sewing projects. Right now I seem to be in the mood for making aprons and cute little girls dresses. The first of these dresses will be going to the Dominican to my boss' granddaughter. The dress is called the Olivia Reverse Knot Dress and just by coincidence her name happens to be Olivia...couldn't pass that up! It was an adorable pattern and didn't take much fabric or time. I made a few changes to the pattern, so as to use the lest amount of fabric. I have since decided to make a few more, just because they are quick and it will get me back in the groove without much effort.

So Busy

Haven't had time to update this blog in what seems like a lifetime. With so much time used to take care of my mother, and working, there seems to be little time for anything else. I have been sewing some small projects and making a few small items for my son who just moved into a new house. I just received a new pattern from Patchwork Pottery and I have all my fabric lined up and ready to cut. Can't wait to get started. Also ordered a new pattern from sewkindofwonderful.com. I'm really liking Gray (the new beige?)
These patterns were both downloadable, which is great for me, as I have no patience to wait for them to come in the mail. I do have to wait for the special ruler to arrive sew kind of wonderful, but it should be here in a few days. I am hopeful that I will have time to keep up my blog more faithfully.
Happy quilting!
